Another Burning Man opinion by someone who has never participated.
I don’t know it you ever attended but you definitely never participated in the community.

...fair amount of drugs. The amount of creativity alone tells me there’s soul at work.

I will never be there in person, for many reasons. Just one: thanks to my Irish heritage I fry in the desert sun like a slice of bacon. Also, I’m too old.

But from what I’ve read of it, it is quite the event.

By the way, “twat” just isn’t an acceptable word at DU last time I checked. Please do not bother to tell me how the Brits love to sling the word around and that it doesn’t mean what we think it means yadda yadda. We aren’t in the UK. Thank you.

The two are just not equivalent.

Admission is $380 (according to 2014 edition), at a venue with no permanent stage, and it’s bring your own water and tent. I think I’ll pass.

If that's the case I don't see how it can really cease to be, but I was under the impression it had been more or less.hijacked by influencers.

It got so popular even long-timers couldn't come back. If I were younger I'd love to experience Burning Man, but my creature comforts are something I can't leave behind now. The artistic talent on display is amazing. Don't let the naysayers get to you. It's not for everyone, but I don't see how anyone can condemn it if they haven't experienced it.
