(29,205 posts)is that at a minimum 1.5 million people will die.
When the pandemic started in the spring, the assumption was that the confirmed case load was only 10 percent of the actual infection rate... now that number has probably dropped to only 5%.
7 million known infections means 35 million actual infections.
Herd immunity requires 70 percent of the population to have been infected.
320M people x .7 is 224 million infections.
35 million infected / 224 million needed to reach herd immunity = .15625
total deaths to reach immunity X .15625 = 208,000 (already dead).
total deaths = 1,331,200
BUT... our hospitals are not equipped to save as many as HAVE BEEN saved to date if presented with this astounding number of infections.. meaning the total number of dead will be much higher... so the number of 1.5M dead would be a very conservative amount.
Spread this around the old folks homes in Florida... and Trump loses Florida. Tell them that THE PLAN is for 7 times as many people to die from this... especially older people... as have died already.
