The video does discuss that it shut down for 10 years around WWII, and unknown if location changed. TheBlackAdder Jan 2021 #4

I don't cross often, but it was a nice shortcut. I've transported dogs across it, met people on the other side. It's been there as long as I remember.

to this situation at all. First off, it's just flatly incorrect to state (per Youtube vid) that this ferry had been in operation for 230 years. It's clearly stated that this ferry began operations in 1947 -- at which time they entered into a legal agreement with the owners of the land. And since that time, the ferry operator has clearly abrogated.

There might be some conceivable historical claim or coverage involved here -- but intransigence and sheer belligerence toward both the courts and the other legal parties does not constitute either "freedom", "mah' rights" -- or any manner of real legal claim or argument. It's too bad that the public is being deprived a service because the owners were so supremely pigheaded -- but that's about the size of it.

to the case one way or another. But then, why are we attempting to gild the lily -- by about 150 years? The business is about 75 years old -- and could have gone on longer if they'd made any attempt to salvage the situation.
