The emotion I felt when the first time I heard it remains, brings me close to tears. I recall too that Dion performed this on The Smothers Brothers Show. Think it was Tommy who said the minute he heard the song, he wanted to feature it on their show.

I was watching Bobby's speech from the Ambassador Hotel after he won the CA primary. He gave the victory salute and said, "Now it's on to Chicago". Minutes later the announcement came that he'd been shot. What a horrible night that was, for all of us and especially for our nation.

Let's win this one for Abraham, John, Martin and Bobby, okay? Keep hope alive!

And yes, I come very close to tears every single time I hear it. I'm too young to remember Abraham, of course, but the other three men were my childhood heroes. They were men who struggled to make this a country to be proud of.
