My next door neighbor, living in a sub-$100K house and probably the most down-to-earth person on earth, very likely doesn't know or interact with our garbage collectors.

...hugging or shaking his hand thanking him for the work he does, as Mr. Hayes says some of the others on his route have done in the past.

- He might have one of the household staff do it though......
