LIVE: House to debate, vote on 25th Amendment resolution against Trump

1. 1st paragraph, section 4, of the 25th Amendment:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

It doesn’t anywhere say that the Vice President has to initiate the process. Moreover, no one trusts Pence to do the right thing. That’s why there will be a vote to impeach. Pelosi is doing due diligence, crossing t’s and dotting i’s, in order to 1) make every attempt to remove Trump from office, 2) set a precedent, and 3) prevent him from saying “If it’s so bad why didn’t they try to remove me from office?” when he’s sitting in the witness chair in the near future.
