(57,936 posts)Except for the facts that the library is too small and the classes too large, I was far more favorably impressed than I expected to be. We are supposed to be a gang area.
But the kids were respectful to me and to the teachers. With an exception of a substitute teacher, the teachers were all extremely well prepared as were the students.
The teachers in our local school now do a much better job than my teachers did years ago when I was in high school. The teachers in the local school were so clearly dedicated to their students.
I can't tell you how impressed I was.
All this propaganda against our schools is just hogwash.
We need to go into some of the Wall Street firms and banks that needed bailouts a few years ago and replace them with charter investment companies and banks.
Who failed in this country?
It wasn't our schools.
