(1,850 posts)I don't click on any of their media. They make me sick.
I realize that some here are brave and intrepid enough to go there, but not I.
The son is obviously a real Patriot, to turn his dad in.
Hope someone can summarize the high points.
And because it was on fox, hope the cult members who watch it will gain insight.

(8,287 posts)Some of the local Fox affiliate stations are okay in their reporting. This one focused on the interview with the son. He saw his father on the live feeds during the insurrection and his mother admitted that his father was there. His father was dressed in tactical clothing with a go-pro on his helmet.
The son contacted the FBI and identified his father to them. The interviewer asked him what he would say to his father now, he said hed say to his father, Im sorry. The interviewer asked him if he regrets it, he said no. Id do it again because of my moral obligation to report him. Not word for word though.
I hope that helps.
Btw, they live in a very nice upper middle class neighborhood and the 18 year old sounded well educated.

(1,850 posts)I do appreciate your summary. Call me discriminating, in a good way. Lol
I'm brave in many things, but don't want to waste a brave act to watch right wing media!
My father, while not militant, was a republican and I was exposed to that rhetoric enough in my youth and young adulthood. Listening to it brings back a flood of memories, of arguments and frustrations I had as a child living with a "mild" racist. At age 12 I told him that if black was a personality, and people could change their religion, I was changing my personality to black, so please don't use that language because it offended me. I recited words by Langston Hughes, and MLK, and left the table or room whenever he used the n word, which was almost daily.
I do understand that some local media stations are owned by groups that don't exactly follow the protocol of their parent company. Still, it's the company one keeps and the groups one belongs to that influence or reflect a philosophy or personality.
I don't watch any TV. I stopped in 2012. My local ABC is owned by Sinclair. I get my news from multiple sources, including DU.
Thanks again!

(8,287 posts)I live in Europe so I get most of my news online now. DU is my home page but I sneak around to various sites to see things that tv stations dont show either. I feel very informed and luckily our cable doesnt include Fox. We pay for the Times and I am happy to contribute to journalists.
