A WOMAN has been left with a fractured skull, after being slammed into a wall with a water cannon during anti-lockdown protests.

Shocking footage showed the horrifying moment Denisa Stastna was hit with the full force of a jet of water fired from a police truck on Sunday.

The Czech national and her boyfriend claimed they had been filming, rather than protesting, though Dutch officials said the pair had ignored "emergency orders" instructing them to leave the area.

The footage, captured on a street in Eindhoven, in the south of the Netherlands, showed a blast of water fired by Dutch police attempting to break up the riots.

Denisa was flung against the side of a building, fracturing her skull in the process.

She needed more than 15 stitches in her head as a result of the blast, which also left her with an injured lip.

Denisa's boyfriend, Michael Piksel, told local radio station Omroep Brabant the pair were “never out for violence”.

They had no right to use the water cannon on us."

“We were never out for violence,” says Michael.

"It hurts that we are being dismissed as wheel turners, hooligans or supporters of Pegida."

A third night of rioting has shaken the Netherlands as protesters rampaged through towns and cities around the country after government introduced a night-time curfew.

More than 180 people were arrested on Monday in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, where shops were vandalised and looted and the mayor, Ahmed Aboutaleb, issued an emergency decree giving police broader powers of arrest.

“These people are shameless thieves, I cannot say otherwise,” Aboutaleb said. But trouble also flared in smaller centres around the country such as Den Bosch, Zwolle, Amersfoort, Alkmaar, Hoorn, Gouda – where several cars were set on fire – and Haarlem, where police were attacked with stones.

Netherlands: Tensions high after nights of COVID lockdown riots
After three consecutive nights of violent riots over COVID lockdown restrictions, the situation remains tense in the Netherlands. Police have beefed up their presence to prevent another night of unrest.

The rioting, which started with the torching of a coronavirus testing center in a fishing village on Saturday night, is the worst to hit the Netherlands in years.
It was initially triggered by anger over a tough coronavirus lockdown that has been in force since mid-December but degenerated into vandalism by crowds whipped up by messages swirling on social media.
The violence has stretched the police and led at times to the deployment of military police. On Monday night, rioters pelted police with rocks, fireworks and Molotov cocktails and looted shops in at least two cities, Rotterdam and Den Bosch.
Justice Minister Ferd Grapperhaus said earlier on Tuesday that rioters would quickly be brought before the courts and face possible prison terms if convicted. "They won't get away with it," he told reporters in The Hague.

is all I am saying. I also wouldn’t bet on the idiot component being any less in Europe than here.
I don’t believe in European exceptionalism anymore than US exceptionalism. Ignorance is a universal creed.
