Michael Parenti helped me, more than any other author, to understand "the big picture".

I cannot recommend his books highly enough. My personal favorite is "Blackshirts and Reds", but "Against Imperialism", "The Money Power", "Dirty Truths", "Superpatriotism" and his comprehensive textbook "Democracy for the Few" are also excellent.
