(57,223 posts)... New Yorkish yet. 2-4" is 2-4" inches more that've seen here in 20 years.

(206,016 posts)The initial snow of the season here was 34"! But I know how dangerous it can be if people aren't used to it! When I visited my grandmother in NC and they only had what we would call a "dusting," people would freak right out! Be careful out there!

(57,223 posts)only had one plow truck (a gift from the Texas Nat Guard) and it hadn't been started in ten years.
When they got it stated and going on 183 (a busy, mostly overpassed route) using guys to shovel salt and gravel (the spreader wouldn't work), 183 was covered in small wrecks one end to the other and was closed.
They ended up on I-35 at 15 miles an hour, shoveling grit and salt on four lane both directions for hours and hours.
I'd heard later there were close to 100 fender benders on 10 mile of 183 and the cops wrote reports on maybe 10%. They got on the radio and told people they would not respond to any calls for 183.
This worse and its already three days into it.
The roads are clear, but there's ice on everything else. Really makes me regret the tile the condo assoc talked us into on the steps. The trees have really taken a beating.
Traffic levels are about equal to the best of the quarantine, which is good. I built two cold shelters for the ferals I feed, and they've been eating a lot. I don't think it's the raccoons because they burrow up in this weather.
I've done the best I can, and I think I got a B result. I'll take it.
