There were many things to love about the 80's... but this look isn't one of them.

wear it to great acclaim and applause?

I don’t think that dress made anyone look good even in 1986.
Although, Arkansas- who knows?

It somewhat reminds me of Katharine Hepburn's torn-off dress in this scene of "Bringing Up Baby"... except the exposed legs are on the front.

She's following the tune a little better, but she's still flat and hollow-sounding. Still... E for effort and improvement.

Here's Jennifer Hudson's performance:

"MT" ... thanks for not saying her name.

I still cringe at the "Be Best" ...

The slogan "Be Best" has also been criticized for having an apparent grammatical error, as it is missing a definite article, and should read as, "Be the Best."[18][19][20][21] The Guardian noted Mrs. Trump's native language, Slovenian, does not use definite articles, and speculated whether the name constituted one-upmanship after Michelle Obama's call to "Be Better".[22] Mrs. Trump's senior adviser, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, called the slogan "illiterate" and pushed for an alternative slogan, "Children First", which the First Lady rejected due to the similarities with her husband's "America First" branding.[23]

Apparently the singer was unaccompanied but couldn't stay in any particular key.

The accompanist is actually a jokester who came along after the fact and tried to keep up with her changing the keys to match her.

Just trying to be helpful to those who are a little slow on the uptake like me.

The comments at the actual youtube page are hilarious.

And if you really listen closely, there are times when she sings in between keys - so he can't actually play a chord that matches the notes she is singing!

Interstices indeed.

If nobody winced, it was time to start watering the drinks down.

CPAC was entertaining this year and the anthem has provided lots of fun:

People are really trying to help. There's even a version that's been sped up and slowed down to keep her on key. One key, not four.

It is not easy to be so spot-on bad. It takes training, practice and skill to pull off such a creatively off-key performance with a straight face. It makes sense, and works well with the comic garb she wore. I just have a feeling that, when she sings in the shower, she does so with a pleasant voice and in key, and that she laughed all the way home from Orlando.

I feel the same way about the golden statue of trump that the drones at CPAC seemed so eager to use as a backdrop for their selfies. Not only was the statue a cartoon -- Trump in blasphemously flag-designed shorts and flip-flops holding a fairy-godmother wand? -- but it was made in Mexico by a Mexican who hopes to profit from its sale

I smell a Borat behind both -- and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a Borat presence in the design of that Nazi symbol stage, either.

Maybe we’ll never know for sure, but I like to think that the “conservatives” in attendance as well as the “conservatives” who planned and orchestrated the conference really are that stupid.

Once, in high school, I sang something for somebody in the choir and she responded in astonishment that I had changed keys three times in two bars.

When I sing, people ask me to sit down. It has been a sadness in my life.
