(13,615 posts)She was going to run away out the door anyway, so I might have just let her go and told the bank to call if she came back without the mask and then arrested her. But I'm not a cop and can't second guess why he decided to arrest her before she ran out.

(206,072 posts)I don't think that this particular guy was particularly threatening, he was just doing his job and she - like so may of these angry anti-mask types - tend to push it to the limit. And when I see these kinds of encounters, I can't help thinking of how this didn't need to happen here. Other countries pulled together, Trump made it political.

(7,668 posts)on it. Out Dear Gov. Abbott (TX) is likely to get involved and make some sort of political statement and then the morons will begin sending money. Welcome to post-Trump USA.

It's ridiculous that these confrontations are still happening this far into the pandemic. Banks here in New York - those I've seen - have all been closed except for drive ups and ATMs. I saw a sign at one which said if you need to go inside, you have to make an appointment. But at that same bank, the last time I went out, I saw someone actually going in! But you can bet that masks are required. I was at the gas station/convenience store next door when an older man came in without a mask and was perusing the newspaper rack near the door - and immediately one of the young guys behind the counter reminded him to put on his mask and offered him one if he didn't have his.
