Evanston, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, approves a groundbreaking slavery reparations plan by way of housing grants.

Just give them the money, don’t tell them how to spend it. It’s only to be used for a home down payment, mortgage payments, or home repairs. What if you’re a descendant of slaves who doesn’t want to own a home (prefer to rent) but rather use it to buy equipment for a business, or pay tuition or a student loan?

Not to mention that the average price of a home in Evanston (only average home, not counting the large number of Riparian properties there in the millions and up) is $439,000. $25K doesn’t even get you a down payment. Some Evanston council persons and residents are not impressed and not happy. It’s just kind of misguided.

This is not real reparations, but the banks will be happy.
