(9,952 posts)and now ascribed to the middle aged older white women. I ordered a hamburger without mustard. Twice I got a hamburger covered in mustard. Twice I watched the couple young fast food workers interrupt and not listen to a word I said. I finally asked for my money back and had a shake for dinner because the issue wasn't gonna be resolved because I was a "Karen" and the door has opened to be as abusive to the Karen as Karen is. I am seeing on the video the men, women, young and old, all races being "karens" but the identifier to the Karen is old white woman. Many times on the video I see the Karen recorded being the reasonable one and the person recording acting absurdly yelling out Karen, Karen. It has been an interesting progression.
Edit: Throwing in calling her the B word about says it all. You know, not really a gender specific word, oh no, not at all.

(8,128 posts)due to their ill-informed views. I am a 57 year old white female with shoulder length blonde and gray hair who has always been on the correct side of this issue. It is wrong to stereotype anyone. The Karen thing shouldn't be encouraged. I get the joke, I've seen the videos, and I've seen all types of people being racist. I guess it's still okay to stereotype older white females, especially those of us with light hair. If only I were an out lesbian and looked masculine I might be free from this rush to judgment based on my looks alone. Yes, I know what it means to be judged for the way I look.

(9,952 posts)"karen" game so many are playing today. All the way from daring to strive to receive information on health concerns, to dealing with both IRS and UI, to buying a damn hamburger. I had a grown man my age square off on me puffing his chest because some stupid ass 20 yr old girl told these men a Karen was picking on her and 2 men rushed out to defend her. I mean, wtf, over filling my damn tire. Aren't we having fun now. To the point of watching 20 something year old girls, being karens, while calling me a karen trying to make me accept a hamburger with mustard that I cannot eat so I will not be a karen. I tell you.... Lol.

(3,007 posts)A close friend of mine has a daughter named Karen. She gets a lot of teasing about it, and it's starting to really impact her psyche. She's started going by her middle name to avoid having her first name - a perfectly-good name - being thrown at her as a perjorative.
