(6,699 posts)When was that? I'm just curious what "new idea" the ghost of the gop had forty years ago? That would be reagan the b-rate actor, stuffed suit? Trying to think of a "new idea", outside of cutting social programs and giving tax breaks to the wealthy and corps.
By the way, this is no longer the "republican party". They officially died when the disgraceful pile of orange shit moved into the White House. It's now the tRumpf-cult, or Insurrectionist Party. Granted, there are a couple...and I mean a "couple" on that side of the aisle that could pass for old style gop congressmen. But 95% of those disgraceful cowards don't even represent true gop values of 45 years ago. They aren't even trying to pretend any longer. They are simply the obstructionist, insurrectionist, stooges to the wealthy 1% and corporate "persons", as outlined in the Citizen's United decision.
Please stop pretending they are "republicans". Those don't exist any longer. They are hollow, greedy stooges.

(1,012 posts)... we'll charge a "user fee" in the form of taxes, to the billionaires who use the roads and rails to make their exorbitant profits, and maybe we'll give them some tax incentives for things like significant wage increases for their employees. You wanna live in the US and make huge profits off of the US system? ... then you got to pay your dues to be a member of this club.
