in any social program because they think that's how they'd react, I think it's a bit different from Republican resistance to getting the jab. For one thing, they're still mostly in a cult whose most cherished tenet is following their porcine leader into minimizing the threat from this virus. The incentive is there--not dying or not killing your family. The problem is that they're living in an alternate reality that says it's simply unnecessary to do so. Never mind he got the jab before we were allowed to.

They don't think in terms of protecting the people around them because most of them don't think in those terms, at all. All men are islands, sufficient unto themselves, and rugged individualism is their second most cherished tenet.

As for actual freeloading off social programs, that rarely happens while people are healthy and capable of being bored. The ones who are freeloaders are generally people you don't want to work with, anyway, since they throw a whole workplace off by having everybody else work twice as hard to clean up their fuckups. Republicans need to think about that part.
