But I’m not, to use a cliche, holding my breathe waiting for it.

To your point, however, even if justice were to prevail and the morbidly obese loser of the 2020 election were imprisoned, that will not end things. An imprisoned Flubbo will inspire new stanzas in the epic lie McCarthy and other traitors in the GOP (yes, I call them what they are) are creating for him. It may actually help them even more by giving Flubbo an almost mystical presence in the teeny-tiny minds of the Q people who, even after he abandoned them after their crimes on January 6th, still regard him as the Chosen One.

What is it the nazi militiaman tweeted: “Fuck you, Trump. You left us on the battlefield bloody and alone!” He probably won’t be defending Flubbo while he spends the next 10 years in prison. But the rest of the cult, the the millions of insurrectionist supporters who only wished they could have been there to share in the glorious treason, will continue singing McCarthy’s lie-epic about the Fat One. And the gaslighting machinery of the emerging fascist GOP will make sure that there are enough gullible people and racist people and neo-nazi people to continue voting for the cause -- that’s right, “the cause” which actually has nothing at all to do with all of the cult members and will do nothing to make their lives better, “the cause” which is, in fact, to further aggregate power and wealth in the hands of a smaller and tighter group of plutocrats.
