SNL - Keegan-Michael Key

With the greatest kudos to Rhiannon12866, who does a magnificent job in posting videos from SNL, Colbert, Trevor etc within moments of their getting publicly released, here are a few more from last Saturday's SNL.

Keegan is just simply a brilliant comedian! The only regret I had is he didn't do Luther the BHO anger translator! But these are also very good. I can't believe this is the first time he has hosted SNL:

I did post his monologue on a thread in GD announcing he was host - and I agree that he was the best host they've had this season, Maya Rudolph excepted. But it's been tough to find any sketch on SNL worth posting these days since V&M is a political forum and I've had SNL threads locked for not being political enough, really!

And I did find most of this week's sketches disappointing and not because they weren't political, but because they just weren't funny - especially the one at the restaurant where Kenan Thompson's wife had left him. And it's really too bad since Keegan-Michael Key is both talented and funny, same with Maya Rudolph. But it's not their fault, they just weren't given much to work with.

And that's why I started posting the late night guys, starting with Colbert, and then Trevor Noah and Seth Meyers. I figured we needed more humor here over the last 4+ years and those are the shows I usually watch. And I realize that not everyone stays up as late as I do. And then my buddy TexasTowelie started posting Jimmy Kimmel who is both political and very funny, too.

There's only one more new SNL scheduled for this season - with yet another host I'm not familiar with so I'm not optimistic. Here's hoping that they come up with something both political and funny - the regular cast deserves better.

For me, it's no longer Saturday Night Live...it's whenever I watch what Rhiannon12866 has posted from SNL! So it could be Sunday Morning Recorded (SMR) or Sunday Afternoon Recorded(SAR) or Sunday Night Recorded (SNR). Whatever, it's genuinely appreciated.

I honestly didn't know that V&M had to be political....that's news to me (the about does say "issues", which is pretty wide), but I will keep that mind. Powers that be: lock away! Hopefully, Music Appreciation, probably one that I post a lot in, doesn't have that same requirement. But what the hell, I got flamed just now for comparing Joe Biden's release of his taxes vis-a-vis trump's complete failure to do the same....most of the time DU is a very logical place, but today seemed a bit bizarro.

Anyways, most importantly, thanks for all your efforts in posting. It takes a lot of time, but because you do it, I'm not worried about catching the L of SNL!

And yes, V&M is a political forum, same as GD. Music Appreciation is just what it says - it has to be musical. We have seen music videos locked in V&M with a suggestion to repost in Music Appreciation. When we first moved to DU.3, I volunteered as a V&M host (and LBN) since I love seeing the videos of whatever makes the news rather than just reading about it.

But I do sympathize with today's hosts since there are now so few of them - and they mostly deal with alerts. Back in the day, there used to be a waiting list.

And that's a big reason I post what I do, as I said. I realize that most people don't stay up as late as I do, so I try to post the important news bytes - and especially the funny stuff! We sure could use more of it these days. Thanks for the shout-out.

It only took me years to figure this out: if it is an apolitical video or one not dealing with a current event, it goes to the DU Lounge (or perhaps a specific forum/group if that's the case). Did I finally get that right?

And GD is kind of catch all, but if it was up to me I'd post some of the threads posted there in a state forum or a specific group dealing with the subject, Environment & Energy for example, where they wouldn't get lost because GD moves so fast .
