Related: About this forumLaurence Tribe: Trump Acting Like A Dictator With 'Absolute Immunity' Defense - The Last Word MSNBC
Donald Trumps lawyers argue the former president has absolute immunity from legal charges related to the Capitol invasion, a defense Harvard Law School professor Laurence Tribe calls a remarkable claim. Prof. Tribe says Donald Trump answers to the American public, and that one of the ways you answer to the people is by being held accountable for the damages that you do when you aim an angry mob at members of Congress. OP
It's not a good sign that the patently obvious must be explained on TV to the country

If Biden didn't win, Trump would be one.

You wouldn't be having this conversation 25 years ago.

Previously we observed laws and norms - and we could have used a recount 20 years ago, not now.

(5,403 posts)5. Trump is a classic case of a Dictator.
No insight into the morality, or lack thereof, of his own behavior.
Power and the acquisition of power surpasses and justifies everything.
An unshakable faith in the value and success of their approach, despite evidence to the contrary.
No insight into the future, if things go wrong . . .
. . . which they do, eventually. So no backup plan, no escape hatch, no flexibility in approach, just pure disaster for #45dictator and his ilk.
