Related: About this forumTrump Corruption of DOJ Lingers Under Garland, Risks Precedent - Rachel Maddow - MSNBC
Rachel Maddow reviews the abuse of the Department of Justice by Bill Barr in sacrificing justice to serve the political needs of Donald Trump, and notes that rather than cleaning the department with accountability for indulging that corruption, Attorney General Merrick Garland is apparently punishing none of it and even continuing some of it, risking a precedent that will surely be embraced by the next corrupt president. GOP Succeeds In Wasting Democrats' Time In Power - Rachel Maddow - MSNBC
Rachel Maddow shares the unsurprising news that White House negotiations with Republicans on an infrastructure bill have ended with no deal but with Republicans having successfully wasted almost two weeks of time that Democrats could have been putting to more productive use. Aired on 06/08/2021.

(205,839 posts)This particular judge was nominated to the federal bench by President Obama in 2015, had an impeccable record and sailed through committee with no objections, but because of McConnell's obstruction, he never was confirmed. No judges were since they were nominated by a Democratic president! But when the former guy took office, they approved judges in record numbers (like he knew qualified judges??)! This story started because this particular judge, originally nominated by Obama, was just renominated by President Biden and, now that the Democrats have a majority, was finally confirmed as a federal judge after 6 years!!
First Biden Judge Confirmed; Democrats Slow To Balance Trump Judge Glut - Rachel Maddow - MSNBC
Rachel Maddow tells the history of the judicial nomination of Julien Xavier Neals by President Obama, whose nominees were virtually stalled by Republicans toward the end of his term, and now again by President Biden, who has a long road ahead if he hopes to balance the flood of judges Republicans installed under Donald Trump. (205,839 posts)And it was one that was approved six years ago! And I think her larger point that it's long past time we started seriously fighting back against these obstructionists now that we have the majority!
And I'm hanging in there, I've been under the weather for awhile, sinus infection, and nothing the EMT (who I finally saw) gave me seems to help and I don't go back till next month. And we had a major storm here earlier today, teeming rain, wind and thunder and we lost power for a bit - but I should be counting my blessings (and my dog's!) since at least there's no more snow!
Hope that you're doing well, my friend...

(20,254 posts)I just made it home from shopping.
Came out from the store to the car with my groceries and sky was way dark foreboding. I said out loud, "Don't do anything really bad!!" Like tornadic activity. It poured buckets. And wind blew hard.
You said sinus problems and still continuing? I say prayer for relief. "Be gone and don't return!"
Love you! And smooches for handsome Jack!

(205,839 posts)People keep sayin the gardens can use it, but it was raining so hard that I'd think it would knock down branches! That actually happened here two weeks ago - branches down all over and on my way home I saw a large tree in a yard that had been uprooted!
And thanks for the good thoughts since nothing has worked so far. The regular doctor gave me antibiotics which did nothing and now I have nose sprays from the ENT which aren't making a difference, either.
Love you, too, my friend, and passed it on to Jack! He got a bath and a haircut on Friday so should be more comfortable in this warm weather...

(1,631 posts)Unless someone speaks about it from inside the DOJ, then nothing can be addressed properly.
Also the house should call Garland to testify regarding proceedings and how things are going.
