So Rand's holy scripture "Atlas Shrugged" told the lazy-fairy tale of billionaires, mover/shakers, moguls, etcs. (whom she lovingly termed, "Men of the Mind&quot , decide that they've had enough of the schnorrers and leeches not appreciating and honoring them, so they take their metaphorical ball and go home by setting up an alienated society called "Galt's Gulch" where A is A, existence exists, and altruism is verboten.

The question that popped up for me after getting clear of the "fog of the unknown": who sweeps the streets and picks up the garbage in Galt's Gulch? Who cleans the toilets and does all the menial tasks no one really thinks about until they have to be done. To put it short, what about the "Men of the Body" or "Men of the Hands"? One thing COVID gave us was an agonizing reappraisal of the concept "essential worker."

And since the capitalist's game is to generate as much revenue with as minimal of cost as possible, wouldn't the optimal setup be slavery? I mean, if you think back, all those "rugged individualists" who took hold in the US South way back when, was it really likely they themselves were gonna roll up their sleeves in that merciless sun and bail that cotton themselves? And if the key is to maintain the lowest costs possible, what's a better number than zero? How dare these laborers demand optimal rewards for their toil? The NERVE!!!
