Should have been the other way around.

Reporters these days more and more want to create the story rather than get facts and report the story.

why have a summit if you do not have confidence that the result will be a change in behavior?

A: Because without the summit there will certainly be no change in behavior.

That doesn't mean that Biden is the reincarnation of Neville Chamberlain after meeting Hitler. Biden is not stating that there were breakthroughs and this is now "peace in our time".

But the alternatives to meeting and attempting to show an autocrat that it is in HIS best interest to get along with the US are worse than not meeting.

And this reporter probably knows it... but is "asking the tough questions" just to either a) make her repuke party friends happy or b) to ensure that "both sides" get equal treatment. It doesn't reflect well on CNN.

their reporter being attacked, and their defense of her. She became the story. Not what I want to see.

The first time the reported said Biden was friends with Xi Jinping and Biden ripped back that it is a business relationship, not a friendship. Y'all know where that bullshit started.
