The lasting emotional toll is so great. The dramatic increase in violence within our society is truly shocking.

Over the past year, I have seen it within my own small circle. One young man in our family was approached on the street @ 11 pm in an attempted robbery in a very nice part of San Francisco.
He was shot in the thigh/groin area and, if not for my niece who heard him screaming from their apartment above, would have bled to death. She ran down to him and was able to stem the bleeding while shocked neighbors called the cops. He spent weeks in the ICU but, is now ok.

Another nephew who attends University of Delaware was walking to his house less than a block off campus when three people jumped out of a car with a baseball bat and told him to get on his knees. This happened @ 4pm in broad daylight. They robbed him but, did not harm him. He was able to memorize their license plate + then he and his roommate drove around town looking for them. They caught up to them and the cops did come and arrest all three.

A friend’s son was @ Market East (Philadelphia) @ 8 pm on a Sunday night when he was beaten by a gang of teenagers. He suffered a broken eye orbital and fractured ribs but is now ok.
The gang leader was caught.

A kid tried to rob my 25 year old son while he was walking on a busy street @ East Harlem @ noon- He got away unscathed.

And, last weekend as we celebrated Fathers Day with the whole family, the kids told us that a friend of theirs from high school was missing- A 22 year old kid- 6’3” + 245#-just vanished.
He has not yet been found.

This has all happened in the past year 😔. I’m so glad Biden is trying to address gun control.
It can’t come soon enough.
