(11,580 posts)...while those Floridians and tourists are having such a wonderful time, it might be worth remembering that, on April 14, 1912, a large group of people were also having a wonderful time. At least, until 23:30, when they stopped to take on ice.

(22,681 posts)while strong man Desantis is killing his constituents, under no such recall drive and constantly lavished with headlines about how he's the presumptive 2024 GOP presidential nominee???
We're officially in crazy town!

(36,567 posts)Florida recall law does not pertain to elected state officials, such as the governor, nor elected federal officials, such as the state's congressional delegates.

(21,797 posts)In public, before the entire world. He makes it illegal for people to take precautions to protect children and other vulnerable people during a pandemic.
We need new words in the English language to describe such perverse behavior because I don't know any that fit such disgusting and deplorable actions from someone who is supposed to be a leader and protector of the people.
Republicans are deliberately killing people, even their own followers, in order to score points against their political opponents.
I feel like I have dropped into a Rod Serling story. This is too surreal to comprehend.

(4,292 posts)They could start with his 2018 campaign where he urged FL GQPers
Hell, they could make a two-hour documentary just on how he has killed so many people here by circumventing CDC guidelines and avoiding just plain common sense. And it's not over yet...

(10,299 posts)success on a national level as his mentor. When Trump ran in 2016 he relied on a certain con man's self-aggrandizing charm; he was expert at media manipulation and a very convincing liar. Like Trump, DeSantis is a demagogue, a liar and a vicious bully, but he's also a charmless slug, with absolutely zero media savvy and little to no stage presence.
Even after disenfranchising a ton of voters, DeSantis won the governorship by a very slim margin, riding Trump's coattails into office while running against a political nobody. Floridians exposed to his thuggish governing style know who DeSantis is now. The guy's a nasty piece of work, probably the most hated Florida politician in my lifetime. A little bit of Ron DeSantis goes a very long way; the more people see and hear of him, the less likely they'll buy this "Trump's successor" bullshit.
