VERIFY: Fact-checking Dr. Dan Stock's claims at Mt. Vernon school board meeting

1. I would like to know Dr. Stock's motive for presenting these falsehoods.

Is he gaining financially? Is he getting paid, and by who? Is the doctor and his family vaccinated? Does he wear a mask when treating patients? Is he delusional, or is he a Right Wing fanatic?

2. Isn't promoting "bad medicine" a basis to revoke a medical license?

Anyone has the right to be a whackadoodle and espouse that publicly as long as no one is harmed. But when someone is a lawyer or a doctor or other licensed professional that should know what is provably true and what is false within their field of expertise, and clearly chooses to present what is false, they should be liable and at risk of discipline professionally to lose their license to practice. They should also be liable criminally and civilly if lay people follow their "expert" opinion or advice and suffer harm. There has to be consequences or this nonsense will only increasingly pollute the discourse and complicate arriving at timely and real solutions to issues.

3. I didn't think anything below an N-95 mask was worth much in the beginning

before all the data came in, because paper surgical masks and especially cloth masks were so virus and droplet permeable.

The research came in fairly quickly, showing that even multi layer cloth masks were fairly effective at stopping larger droplets at their point of origin and the higher quality masks more so. That means the wearer is protecting everyone else from exhaled cooties.

The point of masks is that we wear them for each other, an altruism completely foreign to conservatives who only think about themselves. If everyone is masked, transmission drops off a cliff.

So this guy, a GP, is working on outdated data there, he simply hasn't kept up.

He also hasn't kept up with the mountain of information about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines. No, they're not seeing people who have been vaccinated getting worse disease, quite the opposite. Yes, some vaccinated people have died of Covid, but they were people with massive underlying conditions.

I hate it when these guys get their MDs and think they never have to keep up. He might not be a bad doctor. He just needs his nose rubbed in current evidence and standards of practice.

4. Maybe it's just me, but these types of articles are just promotions for the presenters.

I'd like a lot more hard facts presented up front and then intelligent rebuttals.

What I see frequently are talking heads with fancy graphics promoting something else.

The video has 34,000 views and only 600 people have voted it down. I think the vast, vast, vast majority of people watch, think the video is fine and go about their day.
