Here's why the Taliban is promising a softer approach to governing Afghanistan - PBS NewsHour

As the Taliban cemented their hold on Afghanistan Tuesday and spoke in detail about plans for the country, evacuations resumed. The top American general in the Middle East visited the Kabul airport to observe U.S. operations, now with nearly 4000 troops on the ground. But there is still fear about what the future may bring. With support from the Pulitzer Center, Jane Ferguson reports from Kabul. Aired on 08/17/2021.

Can the Taliban be trusted to keep their promise of reasonable rule? Two experts weigh in - PBS NewsHour

To make sense of the Taliban's plans for Afghanistan, Lisa Desjardins speaks to Ali Jalali, a former minister of the interior who served in the Afghan National Army. He's now a professor at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. And Torek Farhadi, an analyst and former advisor to the governor of Da Afghanistan Bank, ex-senior economic advisor to former Afghan President Hamid Karzai. Aired on 08/17/2021.

no doubt, from the same group of political consultants making a few bucks in Ukraine. The Taliban is evil. Not the "Republicans are always evil" type, but rather "the Taliban beat women who show their hair or the Taliban who beat women who go out without a male relative to the Taliban who throw gays from tall heights to the Taliban who whips those who like an occasional tipple." Take your typical Republican, conservative, or Libertarian, multiply him by 50, and you'll get an average Taliban. The Taliban making appearances the last two days in Kabul are NOT long-term Talibans. They are facades of what we will soon see. They are old-school in sheep's clothing.

The kinder gentler Taliban.

Reminds me of Chimpy Bush campaigning as the 'Compassionate Conservative'. Nothing but a bumper sticker to distract from the RightWing extremist agenda, which was exposed AFTER he was unconstitutionally appointed.
