The race to help allies in Afghanistan reach the United States has been stymied by the former administrations restrictions on Americas asylum system. Krish O'Mara Vignarajah, CEO and President of the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, and Jina Krause-Vilmar, President and CEO of Upwardly Global, join American Voices with Alicia Menendez to discuss the system the Biden administration inherited, the dire situation Afghans waiting for Special Immigrant Visas are facing, and what needs to happen next to save U.S. allies still in Afghanistan. Aired on 08/22/2021.

(54,770 posts)1. Just don't get why we didn't fix that system before the chaos?
I get the problems created by several past-Prez, but why not fix them before all the crud hits the fan. Honestly, dont think we anticipated the problem, or just discounted it. That bothers me, though not enough to come close to giving up on Biden. Just disappointed.

(205,521 posts)2. Apparently, TFG put plans in place that couldn't be altered
And he's currently both trying to take credit for the evacuation and blaming the current administration for it.

(54,770 posts)3. Biden could have changed or delayed anything trump did in Afghanistan. In any event,
appreciate another great video and information.

And the system is in place. But I admit it's tough to keep up!
