5. There is a considerable amount of out and out hatred of people with disabilities

among the right. This is why they applauded when Trump did his "impression" of the disabled reporter. What we find detestable and cruel they find right on and hilarious.

Decades ago Barbara Faye Waxman, a disability rights scholar, wrote a series of articles on hate crimes against people with disabilities. You find this where ever you find the far right. One of Hitler's main goals was the literal extermination of disabled people, and neo-Nazis in Germany (and elsewhere) have been known to taunt disabled people they see on the street with the chant, "Under Hitler you would have been gassed."

Sometimes it's subtle, as when people whine about handicapped parking spaces. Sometimes it's overt, as with these thugs.

But the hate is often there, just waiting for an opportunity to act out.
