(24,524 posts)We can only hope that this motivates Democrats and Independents to vote out the republicans. Texas will turn blue and this type of overreach, combined with voter suppression laws, should be the catalyst for change.
Thanks for the post, Rhiannon.

(204,779 posts)I knew that Rachel would do a terrific job reporting on it, but Chris Hayes was especially good, too.

(204,779 posts)Everyone focuses on Rachel and Lawrence who are consistently great, but I tuned in once to Chris Hayes when he was hosting a Town Hall and he explained the complicated issues so clearly that I was impressed. He really knows his stuff and you can tell that he takes the issues he reports on really seriously.

(204,779 posts)What people who they will never know do with their lives does not affect them at all. I've seen "protesters" at the Planned Parenthood here. One I noticed was an older man with a walker I think. There is no way that anyone going there affects him and I don't think they provide abortions there, it's a medical facility.
And there was another time I was driving down a busy main road when there was a woman standing by the side of the road with a large sign announcing that she'd once had a abortion. That was certainly bizarre and certainly crazy - why would drivers going about their business care what this stranger did once? I found out much later when I gave a friend a ride to an eye doctor in the same area that Planned Parenthood is now located there - and there are protesters there, too. Don't these people have more to do with their lives than annoying women going to doctors' appointments??

(21,346 posts)I would love to see an investigative reporter do a story on Republican legislators who have had abortions or who have paid for their wives or girlfiends to have one.

(43,062 posts)I still can't believe this is happening. It would be one thing to litigate and overturn. It's another to enable vigilante justice and punitive fines for non-compliance. This is the law as sadism. These people are pure evil.

(5,092 posts)A single female inside the state boundaries. They should all leave that state immediately. I assure you that this would get a response from the macho rethugs, who would try to threaten the females to make them stay. Which should then make every female in the country not only never move there, but never go near the backward state again. (This is what should happen. I know better, of course.)

One phony abortion seeker (I'm thinking of James O'Keefe and his ilk) could point the finger at a huge number of people, and ruin their lives.
