Back in the day working at McDonald was for spending money for cute clothes, movies, makeup, etc. not money to support a family.

Since the US allowed corporations to move most of our manufacturing jobs to forgein countries....while giving those same corporations tax breaks and allowing overseas competition to use our market infrastructure.

I use to work for a textile factory, a canning factory and a furniture factory as a way of making money for college. I hopped from factory to factory, making much better than minimum wage. All these factories have moved out of the country.

Neoliberal or "free" trade has turned the US into a nation of sales clerks and waiters.

Before that I was working on local farms at 14.

It’s good for a teenager to have a job, they get some extra cash, learn to manage their money, time and creates lifelong work ethic.

Here in California one of the Repug candidates vying for the governor's chair should Newsom be recalled -- which the polls show won't happen, thank god -- is Larry Elder, who says that the minimum wage should be $0.

but as a 14-year-old freshman in high school, I got an afternoon job washing pots and pans in the kitchen at the local hospital year-round. I continued with the job until I graduated and joined the army.
