In fact, if a senior was working FT hours, company X may now be hiring PTs to fill perhaps a reduced schedule demand due to logistics slow-down and CoVid19 Delta surges. If a senior in a higher living cost area was augmenting SS income with a FT hourly gig at lower wage per hour, there's going to be a churn in jobs to retain a job with FT hours, even if pay is the same or only slightly higher but nowhere near a $15-18 entry start even if they're white and healthy enough for the job requirements. These jobs are so low-status, managers need not hire the neediest or the most capable, so the hourly wage nor benefits are not improved much either. Employers continue to think: "next moron=senior, step forward." You don't need a raise or a retention of your FT hours from me, you'll get one shortly from your COLA.
