The office looked pretty much unchanged until the Truman administration.

I like the dark blue carpet President Biden has in his office.

It looks like that might have been the same one that Clinton used (although the colors in the rendering of the outer border of it looks a little different, but it appears to be the same rug).

I really like President Carter’s interior design layout the best. It divides the room into two separate seating areas while providing a large group seating area on the presidential desk side of the Oval Office.

Those green walls and carpets were there for a really long time along with sparse furnishings.

green walls and carpet. Takes me back to the first carpet my parents put in the house in the sixties into the seventies-very green.

after four decades of the same green walls, green drapes, green rug?

Then it dawned on me, the White House was gutted and rebuilt from the inside out during the Truman administration. (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_House#Truman_reconstruction)

If you look carefully, there are new built-in bookshelves on the sides of the door. I suspect that there were many other cosmetic changes that are not visible in the digital recreation.

(One of my favorite websites to waste time in is http://www.whitehousemuseum.org/ - loads of pictures, architectural drawings, etc. And the creators, for the most part, have ignored the Trump years!)
