Your Chance Of Getting COVID After Vaccination? 1 In 5,000 Or Less - The Beat - MSNBC

As Republican Governor Ron DeSantis claims vaccination against the coronavirus does not impact others, MSNBC’s Ari Melber fact-checks him and explains how the virus is more contagious among the unvaccinated. As reported in The New York Times, new studies show vaccines are working even better than originally thought, and that the odds of getting the virus after vaccination are as low as 1 in 5,000. Aired on 09/08/2021.

The county I am in had nearly 1,200 new cases yesterday. With an RO of 7-9 & super high case counts of late, coupled with extremely low vax rate & immense quantity of scuence denying maskholes...

But, as you know, I'm thrilled to be fully vaxed & very much look forward to 3rd jab.

Until then...

And likely well beyond booster!

(for the vaccinated) I rarely see masks and I certainly don't trust "the honor system" as they're calling it.

I wear a mask when I go into any store or business - and of course there's been the tourist influx - saw yet another license plate on Monday, this time from Texas! So I'm wondering what the fallout from the tourist crowds will be. They regularly report Covid cases - and deaths - on the front page of the local paper and we have cases in the local hospital.

I don't think I mentioned that my friend who works in the ER with psych patients (she was the first person I knew to get vaccinated - last January!) told me that anyone working at the local hospital has till the end of this month to get the vaccine. So I'm wondering if that older gentleman's nurse-daughter is going to get vaccinated or make good on her threat to quit her job if she was forced to...

covid cases are lower than Florida because we mask more. But, it could be we are peaking later.

where I live, actually, I think there is more masking now then last year. I was in a busy Walmart the other day and I only counted 3 people without a mask. Restaurants are also slowing down again - could be the lack of service and poor food prep; we need the Mexicans back and pay them a living wage w/great benefits.

Masks were required to enter any store or business. The mask mandate was enforced, but actually Walmart was the strictest, they had a mask checker right at the door - and they only allowed one entrance. And, like other stores around here, they had one-way aisles and six-foot distancing lines on the floor at every checkout.

July coincided with the tourist season in these parts (Lake George). Last year everything was closed and there was a quarantine to enter the state - or to re-enter the state. They still ask that at the doctor or dentist, if you've left the state. But I drove up north today and the tourists cleared out after Labor Day and schools starts tomorrow so I'm wondering f the mask mandate (which is now only for the unvaccinated, good luck with that) will be reinstated. I think that will be pretty tough now that they've let the genie out of the bottle.
