(4,889 posts)1. Totally agree. But I've never liked being called son either unless it was parents or grand parents.
When dad called me boy it was a put down. I never liked either word. It's man or guy or dude. I don't like calling women "girl" either because they're not. And my daughter even jumped me for calling her "baby", even though she is my only baby.

I call my friend "My die hard Catholic boy." He is white and we live in Washington state. He has been singing in his church since he was able to stand in front of a bunch of people and any other singing group the church may have and I tease him about being a choir boy. So, am I using it in a bad way?
