Related: About this forumRep. Katie Porter Exposes How Big Oil Cheats Taxpayers
It's bad enough that Big Oil poisons our planet; they shouldn't get taxpayer dollars to do it.
On August 4, 2021, Rep. Katie Porter went live on Instagram with Public Citizen's Robert Weissman to expose how oil and gas companies are ripping off the American people. The pair dove into the sweetheart deals that enable oil and gas companies to drill on public lands at rates that haven't been updated in decadesand in some cases, a centuryand how that costs the rests of us billions in potential revenue. Rep. Porter also discussed how her legislation, the Ending Taxpayer Welfare for Oil and Gas Companies Act, would finally hold polluters accountable.
