TX Dem: Texas Abortion Ban Is 'A Story Of The Haves Vs. The Have-Nots' - Ali Velshi - MSNBC

State Rep. Jasmine Crockett describes how the Texas abortion ban disproportionately impacts lower income women of color in “very desperate situations” who won’t be able to access the healthcare they need. Joyce Vance weighs in on how the Justice Department lawsuit arguing the abortion ban is unconstitutional threw the Supreme Court’s decision “back in its face.” Aired on 09/09/2021.

Pretty Much Everything in America Is 'A Story Of The Haves Vs. The Have-Nots' - Ali Velshi - MSNBC

Thought I would make the title more accurate. This seems to always be the main reason for anything that happens or does not happen in this country. The elite vs the rest of us (excepting those who are under the thrall of the elite... you know the ones... they defend the greed in this country even as they lose everything because they don't seem to have any of the wealth they defend. Which is very strange to myself). And, because they hold all the cards, like in Texas, we middling peoples have to slave just to survive while the 'haves' destroy everything in the name of their own greed. What is going on in Texas and other red states is a major symptom of this society-destroying belief that money solves anything. And, since the people with money want this to be true, they will let it happen to a tiny degree... just enough to convince some people that all that 'trickle down' bull and all that 'equality' crap is not what it is... bull and crap. The authoritarian rethug party wants us all in sackcloth and ashes, just so they can point and laugh. I continue to hope that we as a nation will stop falling for this 'riches only' option when it comes to society. (I am not holding my breath any more though...)

I loved it when she said (about Abbott) that we should all be ashamed that this man was on the TX Supreme Court and also gov when it is obvious he knows nothing. Then just as nice as pie she said that she can’t wait to see him kicked to the curb.

I was watching the show and got a phone call during certain critical moments of jasmine’s comments. I was so annoyed that I missed it that I googled her, trying to see if I could get some context to maybe piece it together. I couldn’t put it together but then I said I’ll bet Rhiannon will have it! And yay, you did!

When I googled jasmine is when I learned of her impressive credentials—civil rights attorney, among others. She is one to watch.

Joyce also had some highly valuable input, particularly about the Supreme Court decisions in the past and how they connect with this case now.

I also find her interaction on Preet’s podcast to be highly informative.
