Those who distrust medical science's ability to prevent diseases change their tune in a hurry once infected with severe symptoms. Once in "seeking a cure" mode, all hesitation quickly disappears. All along, conservatives have claimed to be death on health care rationing. So much for that malarkey. These days they are hell-bent on death itself, and bringing others who would otherwise be able to receive prompt medical attention for non-COVID needs along with them

(204,779 posts)We may be a "blue state," but there are still anti vaxxers here. The local paper reports the latest Covid news on the front page and yesterday's paper reported Covid death #81 in this small mainly rural county, an unvaccinated patient in his 40s. It's inexplicable to me that there are still vaccine holdouts in the face of the alarming and devastating Covid news.
Last year everything was closed and there was a state quarantine in place, but this year everything was open, as usual, and the tourists were back in droves. And that coincided with rescinding the year-plus long mask mandate to enter every business, they're now going with "the honor system" for the unvaccinated. School started here on Thursday and they've already reported two Covid cases in local schools. Kids are still required to wear masks in school and on buses, but no reports yet on mandating the vaccine for teachers and staff and students 12-and-over.
