(205,349 posts)I'd think that the only disadvantage would be that everyone would want to pet them.

(10,874 posts)I love them all, but never feed a beagle. They will get sidetracked by food if given the chance.

(205,349 posts)I've had cocker spaniels and each one has been very different. But now I've had two Brussels Griffons. My Jack would not be good at this at all - I took him to puppy class twice.

(10,874 posts)I could tell so many stories about their gluttony. One of our bitches stole cookies off our kitchen counter until she had eaten her fill. Then she hid many more for later in the couch cushions. They are food motivated more than any other breed I have ever seen. Cockers might be second, but it's not close. That is why beagles are pictured on the overweight dog food bags.
Our GSDs have been the opposite, and very hard for a stranger to bribe.

(205,349 posts)And I've had fussy dogs, but that may be my fault. The cocker I grew up with was impossible to give a pill to - if she sussed out the pill when I tried to hide it in any kind of food, she'd refuse that food from then on so I'd have to try something else.

(205,349 posts)And I've read that too, that they can detect illness before it would register on any test. One would think that the public and companies would welcome that since they can detect illness before it becomes severe.
