According to the former PM of Australia, who has known the Murdoch family for years, they do it just for the sake of witnessing their destructive influence. It enhances their sense of power, with no real ulterior motive beyond that, despite how Fox News has been far more successful than Putin who is indeed motivated to weaken the USA.
