I do agree with him on the two national anthem thing at football games. I believe the NBA got it right during last year's playoff "covid bubble" games. It was during the height of the BLM protests so they dispensed with the national anthem all together...thus getting rid of a point of division. It's not needed at athletic events.

I'm African American and believe playing the Black national anthem is not necessary. The NFL somehow got the idea that it was good thing. It a good intention I guess but it's also creates another point of contention/division, as Maher's comment shows.

The Black national anthem is a thing among ourselves, of our subculture. And it's very hard to sing for what it's worth.

14. Generally like Maher's show, not because I agree with everything said during the entire 60 minutes.

In fact, I'm not sure there is anyone I would agree with everything they say for an hour.

It doesn't bother me when he has right wingers on, because I'm not going to change my mind based upon something they say. And, quite frankly, I feel good when George Will -- or some other righty -- admits trump is an incompetent, racist, POS, or DeSantis is similarly deplorable. Maher or another guest are quick to ridicule such BS. Enjoyed Maher ridiculing Ralph Reed a few weeks ago.

But, the nice thing is that no one makes us watch Maher, FOX, CNN, Daily Kos, or anything else. I generally think Democrats and Democratic leaning voters are smarter than some give them credit for.

the guy reeked of cynicism from day one, since I initially saw him on some late night show during the Bush years, which was canceled.

The guy and his fear of "woke" is just like a another scared Republican, looking for the cancel button, and that's just for starters. His use of the "N" word a couple years back still rings loud and clear.
