Rep. Katie Porter Breaks Down the Budget of a WIC Family

The American Rescue Plan makes it easier for low-income pregnant women and young kids to get nutritious food, but Rep. Katie Porter is concerned that families will go hungry again when this help expires in a few weeks.

Rep. Porter broke down how this aid is helping families—and how it still falls short.

I am wiping away tears. Katie only put fruits and veggies in her cart and she shows how easy it is to go over budget. More of this Rep Porter! People need to see things like this. A single mother who finds herself pregnant has horrible decisions to make...Republicans don't give a damn once kids are born in terms of whether they eat or not.

Most old, white, male, Congress critters have absolutely NO idea about this.
Bravo, Rep. Porter!

And another thing the "unborn" supporters fail to consider: expectant mothers need to be able to eat healthy, too!

But when you talk about figures of ten bucks or so per mom or young child PER MONTH, it becomes a cruel joke!

The military cannot even account for how they waste around $2 billion per year, yet we can’t allow poor people to feed their families. Our priorities are screwed up.

I never remember a banana, though we had them at home. We lived on the side of a mountain and occasionally my lunchbox fell open and the orange would go bouncing down the hill and into the road when I was descending to the bus. A banana would have been preferable, as a 7-year-old I was mortified.
