These are apparently real issues.

(204,769 posts)Unfortunately, the nearby state-run site where he got the first two shut down at the end of July.

(57,073 posts)Or maybe they will reopen for boosters?
Rhiannon12866
(204,769 posts)They had lighted signs out on the main road, directing people to come. I was bummed out when the signs said they were closing since I was afraid it was because people stopped showing up.

(57,073 posts)Memphis had a huge site, I think staffed by FEMA. It closed weeks early. Few takers.

(204,769 posts)When I went to CVS, I just had to check in (I had an appointment), roll up my sleeve, get my shot, wait 15 minutes and I was done. My brother's experience was much more complicated, he spent some time at 3 different tables, they seemed to want more information. But then I convinced him to get his first shot when they started taking walk-ins.

(57,073 posts)Did he get Moderna as well?
Rhiannon12866
(204,769 posts)Around here, most pharmacies (Walgreens) offered the Pfizer as well, it was just CVS that offered the Moderna. Though the site at the mall started offering the J&J, but I figured it was because they were closing and wouldn't be open for folks to get a second shot.

(204,769 posts)He's agoraphobic, doesn't leave the house unless he has to. But I guess he got sick of my nagging and the mall is just down the road - and they started taking walk-ins so he initially didn't have to make an appointment. *sigh*

(57,073 posts)That must be tough. Poor guy.

(57,073 posts)I've read boosters expected every 6 months going forward.
Maybe there will be a walk-in site where you can be spontaneous with him.

(19,186 posts)And it was a little swollen and achy for a couple of days.
Maybe they gave her cousin's friend the vaccinations in his testicles? That would certainly hurt and make them swell up. That's a very strange place to get the vaccine, wouldn't you say?
Must have been a rookie giving the shots.
Rhiannon12866
(204,769 posts)But I believe I got shot #1 from a nurse and #2 from the pharmacist. But who knows who's giving the shots in Trinidad? He obviously had insufficient training.

(19,186 posts)for my naughty bits with a syringe in their hands, well....you could probably count me as an anti-vaxxer from that point forward.
Have a great morning, Rhiannon. I'm off to bed for a couple of hours. Have to get my blood work done a 7:00am. Regular Doctor visit coming up Tuesday, and he always likes to check my A1C and lipid panels. Old age is just one long series of indignities.
Rhiannon12866
(204,769 posts)And I'm sure I annoyed them with questions. I was lucky that the CVS where I went wasn't too busy - I heard that the local CVS - which was fully booked so I couldn't get an appointment - was crowded. It took awhile for vaccines to be available here and CVS was the first to offer it. Previously, the closest places were Potsdam (my friend who teaches drove there!), Plattsburgh and NYC.
Get some good rest - and I understand. I'm sent for blood work whenever I have a checkup. Fortunately, it's in the next building in the same complex. Hoping thar your A1C and panels turn out just fine!
