Related: About this forumPandemic Has Turned Republican Governors Into Power Hungry Dictators - Ring of Fire
Across the country, Republican legislatures and governors are passing sweeping legislation that limits the authority of cities and counties to protect their citizens from COVID-19. At least 26 states have either had an executive order or actual legislation passed to prevent mask mandates, vaccine mandates and/or passports, or to limit the authority of local health officials, nearly all of them Republican-controlled areas. The pandemic has raised a new issue about the absolute powers of state governors, and this could play a big role in the 2022 midterms. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

Who could possibly vote for a governor who appears to be introducing policies that are killing their constituents?? I have never been so grateful that I'm in New York...

I really don't get it. And I'm grateful to be in New York, despite the winter snow and this summer's typhoons...

But I'd much rather be there right now than in any of the Covid-friendly states!

I lived most of my life in the Chicago area. Cold, but relatively sane for sure
