Yes that is why the "moderate Democrats" in the House pushed for a vote on the 27th. PoliticAverse Sep 2021 #9

as it appears that the group that wants the bi-partisan bill to pass first and separate is holding firm. So will the progressive caucus torpedo the bi-partisan bill and risk getting nothing? Will Manchin and Sinema be willing to lose the bi-partisan bill by rejecting the $ 3.5 trillion one (it really is looking that neither will fold on their rejection of the $ 3.5 trillion tab).

At the present time it looks like we're getting the bi-partisan bill and the $ 3.5 trillion bill reduced to a ~ $1.5 trillion one.

It's a question of whether or not they have the power to dictate the results even if they're telling the truth.

Moderates absolutely have that power because of the narrow margins... but the math doesn't work the same way for the progressives. Their leverage faded rapidly once Pelosi announced that there would be a floor vote - because they can't control how many Republicans will vote for the bill.

The only way this works out to avoid the "try us" is if a Senate reconciliation bill is settled on by Monday.

From CNN:

Jayapal said they didn't talk a lower price tag because they don't know where the Senate is

The reconciliation bill won't be ready by then.
