Judges Question Meager Charges Against 1/6 Rioters - Rachel Maddow - MSNBC

Rachel Maddow reports on a federal judge's strong reaction to video of a January 6th rioter saying she was looking to shoot Nancy Pelosi "in the friggin' brain" and then only being charged with a misdemeanor crime, not the first judge to express frustration at the leniency of the charges against members of Donald Trump's mob. Aired on 09/28/2021.

but for anyone that threatened to overthrow the government, carried weapons, disobeyed orders, or harmed other individuals there should be some jail time. Bancroft does not deserve to be let off so easy.

How are they not charged with the most serious of crimes?! They went there to kill the Speaker and overthrow the government! Lock 'em up!

Threatening to murder the Speaker of the House and participating in an attempt to overthrow the government are not minor infractions!

is being handled through a political lens. The country is polarized, we don't want to be too harsh as to create martyrs and resentment, we surely don't want to go to any trials lest there be an acquittal due to MAGA jury members, we want more severe charges for the upper echelons of the coup d'etat attempted insurrection, but only if and when we get there.

I understand these people are brainwashed and don't know it, I understand all those arguments, but there is not a government in the world or in history that is still around that would put up with these people. This is the time to defend the State and throw the book at these sub-human cretins!

Is there an end game? If you pulled any of these January 6 stunts at your local Walmart you'd be in jail for 6 to 24 months. Why are we winking at this? I suppose the process is efficient, if only because of the scope of the investigation, 6-800 suspects is a lot to deal with expecially since they're all linked together. Speed is important, getting it right is important.

That's how I see it anyway.

There are still MAGAts in the DoJ, not only the prosecutors, but supervisors who assign them to the cases!

The DoJ under Trump didn't have a problem firing or reassigning those whose loyalty was questionable...under Garland, who is more concerned with how the DoJ looks and not how effective it should be...any actions taken against the Trumpers, still on the payroll...is regarded as "political", and Garland doesn't want to be political...

Wheeee!!! Here we go...another six month sentence,no doubt suspended in lieu of probation and away she goes ready for the next Insurrection.

She FUCKING threatened to KILL a member of Congress. Her and her THUG friends were trying to take over the Government and change a legal election to re-install their Fuhrer, they broke into the Capitol. She then erased her Insurrection selfie and told her children to do the same thing with the copy she sent them.

But someone will be along here soon to tell everyone that these massive six month sentences (if she even gets that which I DOUBT) are fair and just.

She threatened to kill the head of the legislative branch. Seriously, if they are not asking for a felony for someone who climbed in to the building through broken windows twice and threatened the life of the Speaker of the House than who do you charge with a felony.

This is just bullshit. I really thought the AG Garland was up to the task. He led the Oklahoma City bombing prosecutions. To me, my opinion, he has lost his fastball. His judicial temperament is clouding his judgement as the nations prosecutor. Time to wake the fuck up. We all saw what happened and nothing is being done to ensure it does not happen again.

I just don’t see how this is tolerated. If you entered the building you should be hit with a felony and do jail time. This was not a bunch of people chanting slogans and singing Kumbya. These motherfuckers were trying to overthrow American democracy through violence and the judicial system is not doing a fucking thing to endure it does not happen again in the future.
