'Dishonest competition': Putin lashes out at G20 over vaccines - Al Jazeera

Leaders of the world's 20 biggest economies are discussing the climate crisis, COVID-19 and the global economy at a summit in Rome.

Russia has complained about the lack of international recognition for its Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine at the G20 summit, where leaders agreed to step up global inoculation efforts.

Chinese President Xi Jinping - who, like Putin, did not travel to Rome for the summit and participated by video link - made a similar call for the mutual recognition of vaccines, according to Chinese state media.

Al Jazeera’s Adam Raney reports from Rome, Italy.

2. Agreed, they continue to cover international news

I noticed over the past 4+ years, we no longer heard international news on a daily basis unless it was a major tragedy. It's long past time we returned to the global community and President Biden has made an excellent start in reaching out to our long time allies.

3. Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine candidate appears safe and effective

The Lancet: Phase 3 trial of the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine show a consistent strong protective effect across all participant age groups. The use of two varying serotypes, which are given 21 days apart, is intended to overcome any pre-existing adenovirus immunity in the population.
The recombinant adenovirus route to protection is shared with the Oxford–AstraZeneca vaccine. Vaccine efficacy, based on the numbers of confirmed COVID-19 cases from 21 days after the first dose of vaccine, is reported as 91.6 % , and the suggested lessening of disease severity after one dose is particularly encouraging for current dose-sparing strategies.
The development of the Sputnik V vaccine has been criticised for unseemly haste, corner cutting, and an absence of transparency. But the outcome reported here is clear and the scientific principle of vaccination is demonstrated, which means another vaccine can join the fight to reduce the incidence of COVID-19.

It seems to be working very fine - says a daughter of mine.

My parents once visited China and passed through one of those markets. Any cages were empty, but it still upset my mother so much that she couldn't stop talking about it. We always had a dog, everyone's favorite family member.

8. Not to mention that the vast sewage coming from those factory farms polluted vast areas

During last year's storm seasons. Damage caused by climate change is just one crisis we're facing.

And you're right, those who believe the lies that outlets like Fox "News" are spreading are responsible for the violence of January 6th - and these crazies are still out there, being incited by the likes of Tucker Carlson and Fox "News."

He's been pushing for recognition as a legitimate leader on the world stage for some time.

Perhaps is he stopped poisoning people & having them shoved out of windows..

I've read that even doctors there don't trust that vax. (You know I'm far from anti-vax with 3 Pfizers & flu shot!)

Same for whatever China cooked up.

Where is it... Ah, here it is, the teeniest violin.

Happy Halloween!

12. I think if it's so great, why are they not sending donated vaccines to other countries?

Russia and China never do humanitarian efforts, but the United States constantly does but we’re the bad country.
