Republican Congressman Receiving Threats After Voting For Infrastructure Bill - Ring of Fire

Republican Congressman Fred Upton was one of the 13 Republicans who voted to pass the infrastructure bill last week, and he told CNN this week that he is paying a steep price for it. During an interview with Anderson Cooper, Upton played a voicemail that was left for him where an angry individual told him that he hopes he and his family die after calling him a traitor. The Republican Party has some serious issues with their increasingly angry and unhinged base, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Maybe communicating with their constants on why the decision was made on their behave to improve their lives n their childrens’ lives For the future. They know who they represent..or should. Speak up. Stand up n I believe if you’re up front n honest, their voters will support them n maybe demand more improvement on their behalf. Try it. Don’t hide n make up shit to appease the haters. Be a statesperson worthy of your title.

Participating in "ribbon cuttings" and the like - since constituents are overwhelmingly in favor of it. And we know that's happened before - including in my previously Democratic New York district. I currently have Stefanik.

No reason to not celebrate. Us v Them does not wrk. They’re gonna take credit so work with it. We can be clever, too. Words matter.. so put out a positive msg..there are people who can do..make it straight up w/o giving credit where it’s not due. We gotta get creative..maybe aggressive..not a bad word. Time is important these days.

And I tend to agree that the Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot by turning against those who voted in favor of legislation which is overwhelming popular and will be of enormous help to constituents.
