and the entire Party must be purged. Far too much cult behavior rooted in hatred and fear. Smart and strong people are not prone to joining cults.

and that's the original, core elephant in our room. Big money will follow them wherever they go or however they try to re-brand.

tRump just brought another huge very ugly elephant into their tent.

IMO, we're screwed long-term so long as money equals power equals buying of votes in our politics.

The Libertarian model has a fundamental flaw. There have to be rules and some means of enforcement, but in a society this large disagreement on what should or should not be allowed is nearly a certainty. As we see there are often groups that view one action as tyrannical, the small government or local rights model might allow that tyranny to exist in areas. To prevent such tyranny an autocratic solution will be implemented universally.

I'm not sure what "governing philosophy" he's talking about, but that libertarian, small government model has been the GOP model for all of my adult life and most of my entire life. Local tyranny until we can enforce it on everyone. For all the talk of "the free market" and capitalism, the GOP has always wanted the government to pick the winners and losers. For all the talk of the "rugged individual" their actual behavior is more like a Soviet Union propaganda poster "Rugged individualism is strongest when we all conform."

these people have always been with us. They are the ones that condemned Socrates to death, ran the Inquisition, invented slavery, bombed Pearl Harbor, imprisoned Galileo, burned heretics, and on and on. They always will be with us (unless, of course, we find the mutant genes that create them or we become extinct).
