that lies within everyone."

One of our students is an autistic adult who had a fifteen second attention span when he first started piano lessons. It is a joy to listen to his progress on the piano after one and two years later. Music is great therapy for many autistic people.

The real outrage is that ther are so many autistic people in prisons for offences that they did not understand were criminal (if, indeed, they even understood "criminal&quot when they were committed because they did not understand the world they lived in.

Those suffereing from autism can and do improve greatly when given the care, understanding, education, and patience needed to bring them further into our world. Unfortunately, mant are undiagnosed, misdiagnosed, untreated or given the wrong treatment and are then held to standards that they cannot meet.

I wish that therapy programs were available everywhere, but they're not.

I take my son on a 100 mile round trip every Wednesday to attend a fairly basic social skills class. It is being closed at the end of this month because of a lack of funding.
